Special Stories
The work that ABRN performs in frequenting shelters is extremely important. Although municipal shelters attempt to adopt as many animals as possible, the public is not always aware of this. People tend to think that the municipal shelters house only lost animals and do not realize that many of them never find their way home and are available for adoption. Therefore, there are fewer people looking to adopt animals through shelters than there are animals available for adoption, and these impounded animals have much slimmer chances of finding their way into adoptive homes.
There are always more animals to replace those who do not find a new home, and the clock is always ticking when an animal is impounded. ABRN hopes to make a difference, both for the individual animal and the shelter, in terms of animals who find a home vs. adding to the total of those euthanized.

The following link chronicles the heartbreaking story of Albert, a dog who was eunthanized in an Atlanta shelter. Sadly, it is the story of countless pets each year. Warning: This tribute contains disturbing photos.
